Mrs. Blerta Aliko
Mrs. Blerta Aliko was appointed as the UN Women Country Representative on 8 January 2018. Prior to this she was serving in the capacity of the Deputy Regional Director for UN Women Arab States region. A highly experienced professional with over 22 years of experience, she has been working with the UN development and humanitarian programmes and funds including UNDP, UNICEF and UN Women. Blerta joined UN Women in 2012 as Recovery Advisor in charge of implementing the regional response to Syrian refugee crisis based in Jordan followed by the appointment as the Chief of Humanitarian Unit based in New York. She has also contributed to drafting of a number of policy documents within United Nations Development Group and Inter Agency Steering Committee. Blerta holds a masters’ degree in Business Administration from the University of Geneva, Switzerland and graduated from the Faculty of Economy, University of Tirana in Albania.
