Mr. Mohamed ElKalla

Mohamed is recognized as a specialist in private sector sustainable development, educational and Base of the Pyramid (BoP) investments, corporate governance and corporate sustainability. He has been responsible for the creation and management of more than 60 developmental projects and partnerships. Many of these projects involved the private sector, civil society and the public sector, including the set-up of the Egyptian Corporate Responsibility Center, the Center for Transparency at the Ministry of Investment and the foundation of the Global Compact Network in Egypt and the region. Mohamed has also trained and lectured on the topics of BoP and, corporate responsibility and sustainability in more than 25 countries through different forums and related networks. He is concurrently the Managing Director of Cairo for Investment and Development, Egypt’s largest investor in the area of private education and that is serving over 14,000 students. CIRA holds more than 12 affiliate companies, including Futures Educational Systems, the biggest pre-university investment company in Egypt. Mohamed is the Chair of the Corporate Responsibility Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, which includes the country’s leading players in corporate sustainability. He has co-authored and supported the formulation of various Corporate Sustainability related publications; among these are the Business Solutions for Human Development Report, the Guide to Corporate Volunteerism, the Egyptian BoP Market, part of a global working group for the Growing Inclusive Markets Report and over 20 sustainability reports for leading companies and multinationals in the region.
